Baby Shower? DID I hear the magic words? Oh, dear I love it when I get that little invitation in the mail. It means I have to get busy making some gifts. Of course, I don’t stop at one present. I pick out a theme and get a little crazy. Typically, I start with THE BLANKET! The blanket is the one that sets the whole theme for me. Is it a girl? Is it a boy? Oh, what fabric do I chose? I love sewing lots of goodies and throwing them in a basket. So, as usual I get carried away and make many items such as burp clothes, onesies, tag blankies and always a receiving blanket. This time I wanted a different type of blanket. Oh, a Jersey Knit blanket. Especially, a Michael Miller Knit fabric such as Dino Dudes.
It’s so soft and snuggly. Now, imagine a baby wrapped like a little scrumptious burrito… Oh, la, la!
This blanket is only one layer and you can make it out of one yard of knit fabric.
It measures 32 x 38 , but you can make it any size. A square would be really cute too in a 36 x 36.

Check out these rounded corners. Too cute!
So, here is a super quick sewing tutorial for you. You know me it has to be quick because life for a mama and a business owner can get quite crazy.
What Supplies do you need?
A Serger
Rotary Cutter, mat, and ruler ( but scissors will work too)
Serger Thread in a contrasting color
1 yard of Knit fabric
Now, let’s make this sweetie.
First, let’s prewash in warm water and dry. We want to make sure it’s preshrunk prior to sewing. Now, let’s cut it to the size desired. I use a rotary cutter because I find that my knit won’t curl on the ends and it makes it easier for me to cut.
Now, lets round the corners. Trace the rounded corner with a small round plate or even a cd by with a marker. Of course, I couldn’t find my sharpie so a kids regular marker will do.
Now, that we have all 4 corners rounded let’s cut the circular ends.
Serge, all around and you are done. Wait, was it that easy? Yes!!
Wait!! I have left over fabric. What should we do? This Dino Dude can’t go in the scrap pile.
Let’s make a KNOT TOP HAT from Lippy Brand. I found Lippy Brand on Etsy and I had to make this little cutie. PDF Pattern
Isn’t it precious? It’s so tiny. It measures 6 inches wide unstretched. Perfect, for a newborn baby. All I needed was a 12×12 piece of fabric and I had plenty left over from the receiving blanket. Thanks Amy for the pattern. I seriously enjoyed making this cutie.

Oh, I couldn’t stop at one. I made Lippy Brand’s 6-12 months size too.
How stinking cute!
Hope you enjoyed this little gift set idea and if you have any questions email me here.

What fun! I love all the fabrics you have. Just found your blog and I love it.
AH, thanks Amy. Glad to have you around. I wish I would post more. It’s fun making all these goodies. Stick around. xoxo
